TANISHA TAITT
DIRECTOR
Tanisha is a writer, singer, actor, director, producer and songsmith. Recipient of the CMPA Songwriters Award, she is an Honours graduate of the Harris Institute for the Arts and the Seneca Theatrical Performance program, and was a company member in the return of Ragtime to the Toronto Centre for the Arts. Tanisha teaches theatre to children and facilitated a drama workshop with the Bereaved Families of Ontario, working with at-risk youth who have lost loved ones to gun violence. An ardent believer in marrying altruism with art, she has organized many charity benefits and been at the helm of V-Day Toronto since October 2006, producing and directing TVM and MMRP before taking the reins of Any One of Us. V-Day founder Eve Ensler honoured her with a special invitation to be Canada's representative at V-Day's 10th anniversary in New Orleans. Nominated for a YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, in 2008 Tanisha was selected as one of Toronto's Mille Femmes, a group of women whose creative endeavours are impacting the future of the arts in Toronto.
